Guidelines and Memory Joggers

"Bread for Your Head"

1. True success is attracted and

    defined by the person you

    become. What kind of person do

    you want to be ?

 

2. Live your own life not somebody

    else's.

 

3. Live consciously - In order to live

    without regret, practise to

    become aware and mindful of

    every moment of your life and of

    the effect that your words, actions

    and non-actions have on both

    yourself and others because you

    cannot undo what has been done.

 

4. Live in the moment - Moment to

    moment. We may or may not

    have many l lives, but the one  

    that counts is this one.

    Live in the moment, in the here

    and now because all moments

    are transitory (in existence for a

    brief moment in time) 

 

5. Experience, savour, enjoy and

    appreciate every moment of your

    life because once gone it is gone 

    forever.

 

6. The only stairway to heaven is

    the one you build for yourself

    here on earth.

 

7. Look Inside - You are responsible

    for your own consciousness,

    happiness and contentment,

    turn your gaze inwards to find

    them.

 

8. If you want to be free all you have

    to do is let go.

 

9. Yin and Yang - Appreciate the

    duality of all things, the

    inextricable union of opposites,

    that balance is the first step

    towards harmony and that

    harmony is an everchanging state

    of balance.

    Understand the coexistance,

    interdepedence and continual

    interchange, interchangeability

    and transformation between

    opposites whose nature dictates

    that they cannot exist one without

    the other. Yin cannot exist without

    Yang and Yang cannot exist

    without Yin. We could not 

    understand and appreciate heat

    without the existence of cold or

    the value of light without the

    existence of darkness and vice

    versa.

 

10. Appreciate the simple and

      apparently ordinary things in life

      as well as their imperfections,

      you can learn a lot from them.

 

11. Value Emptiness - Learn to

      appreciate that the apparent

      usefulness of what is is

      often found in what is not - The

      usefulness of a cup is in its

      emptiness, the usefulness of a

      room is in its empty space.

 

12. Wu Wei (Non action) - The

      avoidance of unnecessary

      action. Conscious and deliberate

      non action is an action in itself.

 

13. Avoid unnecessary argument,

      aggression, conflict and

      violence.

 

14. Before you judge anyone else,

      their choices or lifestyle, walk a

      mile in their shoes.

Training Guidelines

1. Focus on improving yourself, your

    own abilities and capabilities,

    compete with yourself and the art

    rather than with others. Make a

    decision to get better every day.

 

 

 

2. Stillness is an aspect of

    movement; without stillness the

    concept of movement would not

    exist. Therefore practice stillness in

    order to truly understand

    movement.

 

3. Remember that you can win by

    losing or appearing to lose, you

    can overcome by yielding.

Memory Joggers

1. Within movement there is

    stillness and within stillness

    there is movement.

 

2. Where there is rising there is

    opening and where there is

    sinking there is closing.

 

3. The hips are weight bearing

     joints.

 

4. The knees are weight

     transference joints, let your

     weight, force and energy flow

     through them, not into them.

 

5. Find the straight in the curve.
